Moth Staff Concept Sketches

The next part of the Concept Art course is another piece for our Lepid Valley Butterfly vs Moth world. This time an object/artefact, a shamanistic staff used by the mystics of the Moth civilisation drawing on the iconography of the moon blended with natural elements. Next will be a digital treatment:

WaterFire Images

One of the image sets that came up in the Concept Art course was this series. The best set of these that I have found so far is on BoredStop (copies below). The images are a beautiful realisation of taking an idea and rendering it out brilliantly. The little droplets and refraction details are beautiful. Not sure whos work it is actually which is unfortunate...

[Fire as Water image series - from the BoredStop site - not sure whos work though]

MIDI time

Sound Construction ventured into the realm of MIDI today which was great. I need to download a bunch of extra pieces for ProTools to get all my instruments in play. I am looking forward to building a composition using all the things we are learning along the way.

Butterfly Blade-Maiden Concept Art - fin

Interestingly I am noticing that images are looking to have much more contrast while inside Photoshop and Bridge than outside those apps. I will have to look into that more closely.
Anyhow, here she is as submitted:

Butterfly Blade Maiden WIP

Here are some WIP images of my concept art piece for a Butterfly Character. This was quite a test for me again, trying to bring out the bright and colourful Butterfly civilisation while retaining the brooding Noiresque nature of the Valley they battle in against the Moths. See the lead-up sketch work in previous posts.
