One of the classic films of all time - Aliens has it all. There is an extra string of nostalgia in watching, seeing an earlier masterwork from James Cameron. The Special Edition gives us all the wonderful moments, be they character based or the action of the aliens doing there thing. The film is a great ride, shifting from one memorable sequence to the next.

Music Video - skip skip skip

We have been discussing the Bluejuice song 'Broken Leg' and how an OK song can be so much more with cool video clip. The clip for this song isnt a big flashy affair and doesn't look like it is trying too hard. Yet we are transported to a different time and place and the wonderful rhythm of the jump rope competition reinforces the song in a very clever way. Now if you hear the song, you will feel all the jumpier for it.

This is much like my enjoyment of soundtracks from film as they are reinforced by the context and visuals, thus becoming grander and more meaningful for it.

Coraline DVD

I was looking forward to seeing this quirky little animation (Coraline) given its another of Neil Gaiman's tales brought to life with leanings towards the visual character of Tim Burton. The look of the film has some very nice moments and the characters are cool. I think it may be a film that will grow on me after a few more viewings...

Here are a few images of the creation via the Collider interview with Coraline director Henry Selick:
