Character concept

Alicia is writing a story and has asked for some character art to go with it. Here is one of the main characters as a sketch and WIP colour. The sketch was paper and pencil with the colour photoshoping along. The background may be the thing that changes most from here, Alicia may prefer an actual setting of somekind. So far everything is very intense - will be interesting to see it evolve from here for her.

Hotel Fox and graphical spaces

One thing out of favour in modern architecture and spatial design is the use of decoration. The idea of having patterns, drawings or characters on walls is pretty much confined to kids bedrooms. There are exceptions of course, but as a rule our spaces are designed to be pristine. Perhaps the idea that decoration isnt timeless, that once a space is adorned by something it will lose its appeal over time is the driving factor here. focusing

Well, the Hotel Fox in Denmark is a great example to buck this status-quo. Here is the text from their homepage which nicely describes the individualised rooms:
Hotel FOX
For the launch of the new Volkswagen Fox 21 international artists from the fields of graphic design, urban art and illustration turned Hotel Fox in central Copenhagen, into the world’s most exciting and creative lifestyle hotel.

61 rooms, 21 artists, 1,000 ideas
Each room is an individual piece of art - from wacky comical styles to strict graphic design, from fantastic street art and Japanese Manga to simply spaced out fantasies. You will find flowers, fairytales, friendly monsters, dreaming creatures, secrets vaults and…

Come by, check in and discover our spaces.
One thing we promise: You haven't seen anything like it.
I have thought on multiple occasions about splaying some exciting artwork across our walls at home. My reluctance here may not only be finding the energy, but actually deciding what to put. By contrast, having a piece of art hung on a wall doesnt present the same feeling of permanence...

Check out these images of the stunning work you may get to stay 'in' if you ever get to Copenhagen:
