I decided to do a search for some groovy Scanning Electron Microscope imagery of Moths and Butterflies and quickly cam upon the marvellous resource that is the SCIENCEphotoLIBRARY. Here searching for these two categories of SEM images revealed so so many. The incredible complexity that is obscured by the tiny size of these structures is fascinating and so gorgeously organic. Congrats to all the different 'photographers' - that caterpillar is super ugly btw...

I know I will use the site for wing reference going forward, but here are a few of the cool images from the library of Moth and Butterfly in extreme close-up!
