CryE Vegetation & Video

Here are a handful of recent community additions to CryEngine3 that give us more capability and beauty over and above all the joy we get from the base SDK. I will give all of these a try in the next day or so as well.

GrimDesigns Grass 1.0
A small suite of gorgeous grass options that are sure to add lush variety to many a level (news) - super work by the-grim (forum link)

Hendrikp Video Player
Yes, multiple videos with a heap of features all running live in the game - great stuff and awesome that the community just keeps creating goodies like this for us all. (link)

Middle Head Arch Comp Project

I thought it would be nice to highlight this video that covers the collaboration between the 3rd year Architectural Computing students here at UNSW and the National Parks and Wildlife Service. The students created a suite of visualisations of various types bringing a range of technologies to bear on presenting Middle Head in interesting ways from real-time layered visualisations to augmented-reality.

Puss Moth

There are some pretty creepy looking moths and caterpillars (love this scary one) out there and I thought it might be fun to do a quick post on this baby - the Puss Moth. The caterpillar has a strange head/face with those false eyes and little bundle of legs to go with its blobby body. This makes it look like it has a huge scary mouth to me and the actual moth has a few unnerving things going on as well.

Here are some pics from the wide interwebs showing off this little creature. Pic refs: Anthony Rowell, John  Hallmen, HumBugPig and William Harvey.
