Standley Paper

Yesterday I did a simple post to highlight the work of people like Neri Oxman using 3D Printing. Well this time lets look at the related technology of laser cutters. These machines are superb at cutting (and etching) sheet material using a digital file, the results of which can then be assembled to create 3D works.

So lets be inspired by one set of such work by Eric Standley (Virginia Tech) who used laser cutters to build up these incredible pieces using sheets of coloured paper and some clever 3D thinking. Referencing the sculptural quality of gothic windows with some more modern injections the work is inspired. See the Colossal article for a bit more info.
